The Hernando de Soto Historical Society produces the annual DeSoto Seafood Festival for over 35 years now! we are a not-for-profit community organization of 225 volunteer member who celebrate the historical significance of the 1539 landing of Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto on the Manatee River. While keeping De Soto’s legacy alive, the Society produces Manatee County’s largest entertainment events each year, culminating with the DeSoto Heritage Festival, now entering its 80th year!

Proceeds generated from the DeSoto Seafood Festival benefit our Conquistador Historical Foundation. As the charitable arm of the Society, the Conquistador Historical Foundation distributes funding to other community charities, provides education programs including a student exchange program with Barcarrota, Spain (Bradenton’s Sister City), funds collegiate scholarships.
